Final Fantasy series has sold 85 million copies globally

Square Enix has revealed that the RPG juggernaut known as Final Fantasy has sold a whopping 85 million units worldwide since the franchise made its debut in 1987.
The Japanese publishing giant also detailed lifetime figures for Dragon Quest and Kingdom Hearts, which have accumulated 47 million and 12 million unit sales each, respectively.
The news comes following Square’s move to take over ailing British publisher Eidos, where the company also divulged sales figures for the likes of Tomb Raider (30+ million globally), Hitman (8+ million copies) and Kane & Lynch (just under 2 million units)

Wow that's all? I would have figured they could hit those numbers with a single game. I guess FF isn't as popular as I thought.

not every player is an rpg lover, not every rpg player plays ff games, and not that many people outside japan plays rpgs (why do you think they are never in a hurry to release them outside japan?) so yes, those are great numbers. i dont think you have a good grasp of what 85 million is, especially nowadays when its so easy to download games off the internet.

I hope when they reach 100million they do an milestone package containing ALL the FF's up till FFXII in a blue-ray set or quad layer blue-ray.
I'm sure they could fit FF1-9 on 1 blue-ray and FF-X, FFX-2, FFXII on another blue-ray :D
I'd pay a nice price for that set. -

finaly fantasy sucks imo. i cant sit down and play this game. i got friends that play this game for hours on end and i just dont see how. the story really isnt that interesting but i guess you had to play the others to get into it. is it the same ppl evertime or sumthin or what?
now i like rpg i think there are sum great rgp out there but sure to h3ll not finaly fantasy. iv hated this game since it was just little people on the screen, like 2d shlt back in the day with the nintendo and that weird little white things on the cover, lol.

85 million untis over 28 (I think) games on all systems including 'phone rubbish.
@5 - what single game sells 85 million units?!
