Thief 4 is still a long way off

Thief 4’s official unveiling yesterday has come as something of a double edged sword. On one hand, fans can breathe a sigh of relief that the elusive sequel is finally on its way to as of yet unannounced home consoles. The bad news is, however, it’s still a long way off, having yet to enter pre-production.
Speaking to inc gamers, Eidos Montreal general manager Stéphane D'Astous revealed that the stealthy sequel hasn’t made it past the conceptual stage yet: “In the world of gaming there are mainly three phases – the concept, pre-production, and production – and right now we've reached our goals with the conceptual base, the story."
"Obviously, the tough part is still to come, so the team will be ramping up, which is good news... So we'll be hiring approximately 40 people in the next six months: artists, programmers, designers, all the works. They'll be working on the next phase, which will be pre-production,” he added.
As for which platforms the game will show up on when it eventually hits shelves, D’Astous wasn’t quite ready to divulge anything just yet: "With the fast evolving world of hardware, there's a lot of things that will be happening in the following years so we need to be close to that.”
