No Trophies on PSP

Most PlayStation Portable fans would like to see some changes to their handheld device; a second analog stick, a camera (for North American and European users), a phone, touchscreen controls, and a higher resolution screen. In all likelihood these upgrades won’t come out until the next-generation of PSPs. But one relatively simple upgrade many PSP fans want is Trophies. For now, that’s too bad.

Eric Lempel, director of PlayStation Network Operations, told the folks at Joystiq that the PSP will not get Trophies, largely because of unresolved piracy issues. Don’t expect the PSP Go to be any different. As you all know, and our user forums acknowledge, the PSP has been hacked. It’s far too simple to download games and movies illegally.

The same problem would occur if the PSP had Trophies, Lempel explains. If a user could artificially inflate their rankings and Trophies via their PSP, then the whole Trophy system would essentially be meaningless, including Trophies for the PlayStation 3.

It looks like we’ll have to wait until the PSP 2 (at least) before we’ll see Trophies on Sony handhelds.

    who gives a crap, trophies are meaningless as it is,they dont measure a players skill and they provide no benefits at all...if trophies you win could be turned into money to add to your psn wallet THEN they would serve a purpose

    wtf @9 psp has maddest handheld games

    @3 read #8

    and as for psp not getting trophies, meh im perfectly happy sticking to my ps3 trophies

    oh btw #5 some trophies show skill, completing killzone 2 on elite isnt the easiest challenege nor getting in top 1% for the week, altho some are easy like sing a song in singstar or something and some are incentive almost for dlc, like 5 revives on killzone new map

     well ... i think Sony did many things that the users really wanted on the PS3 (in-game XMB , Trpphies ...) ... but when it comes to the PSP .. NO ...they almost did nothing but releasing games & different virsions of the PSP... i mean i want 2nd analog stick + tuch screen (why not) + bult-in cam & Phone (PSP Phone) ... non of those things in the PSP Go ... and the price of the PSP Go is Just a JOKE ... and they want me to let go my old "FAT" PSP that can run any SNES+PSone+ custom themes ....

    Think bout this, if PSP Go had a second analog stick, all the previous PSP will not be able to play any new game. This is because what will happen if the game requires a second analog, it will not be playable by the old PSP. I think this will cause outrage among everyone who recently bought the PSP 3000

    The guys who pirate for the psp should be ashamed... you are causing the good guys to miss out on potential features

    I've never pirated games for the PS consoles and never will because it's bad for buissness ,there's too many hard workers behind every game, even the worst games out there! But for me what psp really needs is a longer battery life cycle, I love the graphiques the way they are but then again I don't play that much on my psp but I don't regreat buying it either!

    The PSP is fine without tropies, it's also fine without a second analog, which someof you need to finally EFFING ACCEPT THAT IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN. It will never happen on any current generation PSP because it means alienating the 40 million PSP users that already exist, it means people complaining to Sony that the second analog dosent work on any of their old PSP games and dragging their name through the mud just because they couldnt magically make this happen. Then it means telling developers that all of their new dual analog games also have to take into account the 40million psps that DONT have dual analog because there's no way to retroactivly install those new nubs on old PSPs.

    It's not sony's fault for disincluding the feature. Blame it on the hackers.
