Trine on PSN costs half of PC price

If you're looking for a deal on Trine, skip the PC version and download the PSN release, which is set to debut at $20 USD -- half of the PC version's official $40 price tag.
The game's publisher, Nobilis, confirmed the PSN price to Shacknews earlier today. One developer took to Frozenbyte's official forum to explain the high price point.
"While guidelines are set by our publisher, in my opinion price around $/€ 30 [for the PC version] is very reasonable for a game which production values are very close to a retail title," explained Lauri Hyvärinen, Frozenbyte CEO and designer. "While we are labeled indie as developers, Trine is far from a game created by a solo hero developer (we have over 20 employees and Trine has contributions from a double amount of people). We are very confident that we can deliver a full retail experience with Trine (hence PC version is sold in retail also for approx 35 to 40 eur/usd!)."
Trine is set to release sometime in July. To learn more about the game, check out the most recent Trine trailer.

@7 It is unlikely that they intend for the PS3 version to have some big bugs. Also, you seriously think it will have much worse graphics? Maybe the resolution, but I'd guess that would be all. It won't be pushing either, from the looks of it. Tech don't always make a game, of course.

@3
no the PC and the PS3 versions of trine are not the same. You can not place the PC version's disc to PS3 and expect it to work also you can not port the PSN game to PC... So they are not the same. Talking about the same a person's left nose hole is also not same with the right nose hole.

I played the PC demo and I really like it. Will be buyin it for my PS3. The production values for this game really do justify the price point. The game is about 8 hours in length, looks amazing visually, has great voice acting and original musical score, its own physics engine, interesting story and great level design.
@3 I imagine the games will be pretty much the same, apart from controls really. The PC retail version is more expensive probably because it comes on disc and with packaging. Looks unique and very promising.

I've never even heard of Trine. It looks kind of cool. Interesting it's PS and PS3 and not XBL (yet)
I hope we see more of games like that.

Alright the game looks good and all but I am not sure if it looks $40 good. I know they need to recoup their expenses and all but it looks like a basic platformer in which you must switch characters to progress and solve puzzles. And that in my opinion in this day and age is a little be lacking in the department of depth. Little Big Planet would have fallen into this category had it not been for the depth of the customization and the great, new, and innovative things that it brought to the industry. Can you really see yourself paying full retail for LBP if it was just the original levels with no character customization and no user generated content? I could be wrong and this game could be stellar, but I will wait for some reviews and see if it holds more than surface glint. The $20 PSN price even seems a bit high for me. Maybe 14.99 like Penny Arcade would suit it more. I mean PA was really cool and it seems to be a deeper game than this.
