Raven's Singularity pushed to 2010 because of Modern Warfare 2

Amazon just changed the expected ship date of Singularity to the first quarter of 2010, the first news that the game has been delayed. This seems atypical of Singularity’s developer, Raven Software, since it is a heavyweight developer with plenty of experience and titles, including Quake 4 and the recent X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
With no official word on the matter, IGN contacted Activision, Singularity’s publisher, and was told that since Singularity is a shooter, it’s being moved out of the way for its own sake and the sake of Modern Warfare 2, which would have likely swallowed Singularity whole.
“The level of excitement for Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven's upcoming sci-fi first person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010. We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a ‘must-have’ title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season,” Activision explained.

Why not as publishers, try push this Singularity instead of a well known franchise, i bet that makes the devs feel well important, if activison doesnt have faith in the game why should gamers. Games can shine against top franchises and really show what the game can do, yeh perhaps it may be better in long run, but next year it isnt gonna get any easier against games unannounced and those already coming. Just seems like money grubbing to me.

modern warfare 2 is going to be awesome, why would i worry about that game, i've never seen or heard of.

I'm tired of all these FPS and shooters. Thank God I have to the 60 GB PS3 and can get good RPGs like Rogue Galaxy, Grandia 3 and others until we get some variety. Sheesh, yeah, looking forward to Team Ico's game and GoW 3!!!!

rotfl are u serious they are scared to release a game just because one of the most anticipated games of the year will leave your game to catch dust on shelves....wow somewhat smart but still scared.......but wat to say about mag ,mag and cod mw2 come out around the same time...
@16 ha ha ur friends are really funny..almost made me cry mag better than mw2 no offense to sony but mag somewhat mag reminds me of battielfield fused with enemy territory nd tomclancy...with alot of players...whos to say mag will be a hit u never know

wolfenstein will be the new call of duty (as far as hugely popular multiplayer) if people give it a chance.

What you should have said in the article instead of swallowed Singularity whole is "Modern Warfare 2 would have crushed Singularity... into a singularity." ho ho ho GET IT!?

I love MW as much as the next guy but MAG looks pretty good i must admit. There is so much hype over MW2 that they have set an unbelievable benchmark and it has to be very high standard as thats what everyone is expecting. It's good that they dont release so many games at the same time otherwise you can never keep up and they wont get the sales. I think there are a lot of substandard games for a 3rd generation console and we are still waiting on a game that you can look at and really go "Wow" nothing beats that!

either way they are both just run of the mill every day FPS, when MW2 comes out i'll be getting uncharted 2, when singularity comes out, it'll be GOW3, im so tired of FPS, other than resistance and killzone 2 i dont even own any anymore

@7 bet mw2 doesnt have 256 players in a singe game
it doesnt look 2 me like mw2 and singularity have alot in common so i dont c what the problem is@ 16 yh thx but i think maybe the online features of mag probably will b better than mw2 but about that game i just hope sum people will still play warhawk
