GamesCom: Heavy Rain will focus more on emotions

When Heavy Rain is released next year we'll get a completely new gaming experience, explained David Cage from Quantic Dream. Cage showed off the game at GamesCom, highlighting some of the four main characters, including a private detective named Scott Shelby and a man named Ethan.

Ethan lost his oldest son in a crowd, and his kid was hit by a car, Cage explained. Ethan must confront his own fears when his son goes missing. The idea is based on Cage losing his son once in a shopping mall.

The game is said to be like no other title currently available. It uses the PlayStation 3 in new ways, and is not your typical game that features repetitive action. Instead, the game focuses strongly on emotions.

This will either be insanely good or quite the oposite, I don't see any middle ground with this game.

I dunno how long the game takes to complete but I'm pretty sure the longevity will be based on multiple playthroughs as the experience should be different depending on what you do and how you do it.

Just thinking about how intense some of those moments will get, like the part where there are at least a dozen guards, even to the very first footage shown.  I absolutely cannot wait to get my hands on this

This game looks pretty sweet, definately a well made exclusive.  From what ive seen it sort of looks like one giant playable movie, but its made by people from Farenheit isnt it?

Unfortunately it will not focus on being a good game.  If you thought Killzone 2 dissapared in a heart beat I give this one 1 week after release and nobody will ever mention it again.

@14, pretty sure killzone 2 is still doing quite well, not to mention it has 3 awesome map packs, not sure what rock you've been living under... but oh well
