PS3 tops Japanese hardware charts

Sony’s PlayStation 3 has muscled its way to the top of the Japanese hardware charts after a lengthy absence, thanks largely to the release of SEGA’s Yakuza 4.
The console managed to shift just north of 50,000 units, surpassing both the PSP and Wii, which sold 38,017 and 31,101 units each, respectively. Previous weeks have seen the charts largely dominated by PSP, which has successfully outsold the Wii on a monthly basis for some time now. Check out the full list below.

amazing that everyone keeps banging on about the N America totals and how the 360 is ahead each month by tens of thousands each month , yet in Japan the margin is astronomical , completely wiping out the deficit of NA totals, amazing spin they put on that eh???

maybe (definitely) people in Japan are smarter than my retarded counterparts here in the US. The Japanese know a good system when they see one such as the PS3. And i must agree with them.

are you crazy? in japan the ps3 is leading by 3.5 million while in america the 360 is ahead by 9.6 million check famitsu and NPD numbers, that does not "completely wip[es] out" anything

In Japan, the xbox doesn't sell well at all. PSP is finally selling out the DS but the combined sales of the DS's are too close to the total sales of the PSP and PSP Go. Sad to see it doesn't sell well. Sony dominates in Japan, Xbox dominates in North America and in Europe they are pretty equal with the xbox usually in a slight lead. With the games that came out I think even in North America the PS3 will outsell the xbox.
