Demand "remains incredibly high" for the PS3 in the US, despite recent shortages, according to Patrick Seybold, SCEA's senior director of corporate communications.

With 1.1 million copies of God of War III sold, and the PS3 release of Final Fantasy XIII selling twice as many units as its Xbox 360 counterpart, Sony has much to celebrate.

“The huge appetite for PS3 content and gaming experiences has never been stronger as we continue to bring out great games like God of War III which was the #1 software sku in March with more than 1.1 million units sold in less than 3 weeks,” Seybold said.

According to March NPDs the PS3 sold 313k, the PSP 119k, and the PS2 118k.

I don't wanna be mean but Sony better get on it.    I'm guessing they didn't expect THIS many sales.    Not that that's a bad thing though :).

Well no sh** SCEA. Low supply  = high demand.

yeah took me awhile to find a replacement ps3 after i gave son my ps3 replacement after the refurb sony sent me died after 11months. i finally lucked out while in grand rapids, mi at a meijers (walmart rival in the midwest) and stumble upon a ps3 slim 250gb. was more than i wanted to spend at $350 plus tax but i couldn't pass up the chance to finally have one after being in state after state and not being able to find a ps3 (i'm a truck driver). and as of today whenever i get a chance to stop by a walmart or mall i check just to see if they have any ps3's in stock , they don't...and you still can't find one unless you order it from gamestop or off a website.
