Uncharted game-to-film adaptation is likely

Rumors have been circulating for some time about the possibility of a game-to-film adaptation featuring the Uncharted universe. With news of Sony scoping out potential directors and producers, it seems more and more likely that Nathan Drake will soon make an appearance on the silver screen.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the studio has met with David O. Russell, director of Three Kings, Spanking the Monkey, and the upcoming drama flick The Fighter. However, Russell is but one of Sony’s prospective directors. They emphasized that “it’s at the meeting stage, and not close to the deal-making one.”
In an act of foolish confidence, Sony is shooting for a release date of summer 2011. Need they be reminded that video game films don’t have the greatest track record? Taking a little extra time to break the mold with a quality film is perfectly fine with us.

That's a very good point. Game to film is rarely good, one of the reasons I don't want any snakes on the big screen. Anyway, Uncharted is almost a film anyway, and not very different from Indiana Jones and Lara Croft, so I don't think he'll stand out in the movie world, unless he delivers quality.

As long as Drake is not played by Hugh Jackman.....God i hate Hugh Jackman.
Nolan North could play the film Drake, although the don't look alike. But Elana's Voice Actress is the spitting image of her....=)
So yeah....No Hugh Jackman and i am happy

@4 I strongly disagree, Sony movies are average. They sometimes get lucky with picking up a unknown director for example Neil Blomkamp who did District 9 or Duncan Jones who did Moon. But majority of the time they shed out cash to some crappy as directors for example Roland Emmerich (2012 the visuals are nice but was very cliche'd) or Scott Stewart (Legion- This movie looked awful and was awful.)

So after we basically got a game-rendition of Indiana Jones, we now port that back to the big screen? We've all seen that movie, even before it comes out. I really don't think this will work out at all.
I'm not arguing the quality of the game, but it's still an Indie rip-off.

Uncharted 1 was ok but PS3 owners hyped it as '' the best game ever '' but it was basically a Tomb Raidor clone, the second was even worse...and before anyone bashes me Im a Sony fan, Iv had every Playstation console and I hate Microsoft and Gaylo, oh and iv never played a Xbox console in my life...thats how over rated Uncharted series is.

Well, if they are looking at 2011 then most likely we'll be getting Uncharted 3 in 2011. You know how things go, they normally want to release in parallel to boost sales of the game and boost the number of movie goers.

If they do it I sincerely hope they don't mess it up. We don't need another crappy game to movie port. But what is up with all of the Uncharted 2 hatred popping up? Obviously you people are STILL missing what makes Uncharted 2 one the greatest games ever made. Sure it's closely related to Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider, but it EASILY stands out on it's own. The real quality that makes U2 so amazing and why it has received over 30 Game of the Year awards is not simply because of the gameplay, graphics, characters, or storyline. It's because the game combines ALL of the elements that make a game good so perfectly, that no other game can truly match it. Anyone who can't realize that and just seeks to label Uncharted 2 as a clone is doing nothing more than proving theyr'e a casual gamer that don't really know what makes a good game. I know everyone is entitled to they're own opinion, but the fact remains that opinions are HIGHLY based on one's level of intelligence. Just because someone has an opinion doesn't make it a smart one, and some of the overly crititcal opinions about Uncharted 2 go past one's views on something and straight into hateful ignorance.
