SEGA has revealed that it has shelved plans to patch the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Aliens Vs Predator.
Posting on the company’s official forums, assistant community manager Clumsyorchid said: “I’ve just received a mail this AM regarding patches for the console versions of AVP and I regret to inform everyone that these have sadly been scrapped.”
“I had previously made a claim that these were coming and at the time, this was very much on the table. For the console community, I apologize, as I know there are many features and updates that you’d like to see. I’ll keep fighting internally for this to happen, but until I hear otherwise, there will not be a console patch for either Xbox or PS3.”
When quizzed as to whether or not the PC version of the game would see its support canned, the firm issued the following response: “I have heard nothing on PC patches and would not assume there will be any changes unless stated otherwise.”
The console versions of the game have seen just a single patch launched since its release in February, while the PC iteration has seen five at the very least.

...and I bet Sega is wondering why none of their stuff sells...
AVP - broken
Alpha Protocol delayed and still not polished.
Bayonetta - needed Sony to fix their software.
Isn't Quantum Theory coming from Sega too...*SHUDDER*
That's probably why the E3 trailer looked so bad. -

Ok, well how about a release of a good AvP game then? That too much to ask? I mean, the game would have gotten much better support (which is why I believe the patches have been shelved). I applaud Rebellion for sticking to it's formula, but other FPS's are LIGHT years ahead of what AvP is. This game would have been gold about 10 yrs ago.

ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGG! Aliens vs predator is such a fun game but the crappy servers are so... so crappy! To join a ranked match it takes 10 minuits and when it starts there are usually only 4-6 players. i would have bought their DLC for the game but im not buying anything from them untill they get off their lazy asses and make the game playable!

That's probably why the E3 trailer looked so bad.plus yakuza 3 bad port over, where they cut content out of the western release due to "translation issues" and sega wonders why we hate them and why they worried about if it would sell well in the west :P

well, i bet sega goes under completely in the next year. The whole thing with them bringing classics to the PSN is probably their last bet for some revenue

I agree sega kind of needs to get their act together, they used to put out some really awesome games. The thing that sucks now is most of the stuff that they have put out lately has had massive potential, i mean look at alpha protocol for instance, and AVP (if done right) could have been more than just average to good as well.

I was so hyped to get AvPbut after buying it and play the whole three campaigns in a day, I felt that I should have waited for a price drop, and a good one like 19.99 or something. The same for Alpha Protocol, but this time I'm going to wait a price drop on that one since the reviews aren't so good for the game. But Sega isn't the only one putting crap on store shelves, the last CoD MW2 was a complete waste of money with the three hour campaign, I like to buy games for their story and not for multiplayer, for more crap they add to MP it will still be the same and once you played one you played all so it doesn't really matter to me if it's CoD or Socom or BC or MAG or whatever, it's all the same so multiplayer is ok but single player has to be good and not a three 15minutes missions with dumb storyline and that's it. I got some hopes for MoH and Socom but I'll wait for reviews from now on. I was also, a bit disapointed with ME2 as well, some things were cool but it wasn't as nice as the first one, even with the thing freezing my 360 all the time it still felt more fun than the second.

Dissapointing to say the least, when this sort of thing happens, it almost feels like betrayal... as if we've payed to get the game then they give up on it before even a year's up. Bad stuff

Why would you make a FPS for AVP? That has to be the dumbest move I've ever seen made with a franchise that could so easily transition to a video game. Third person would be where it's at because when I rip a guys head off with an alien I'd like to see the full action performed as opposed to a first person limited perspective. Throw a little Uncharted 2 fluidity, GOW 3 graphics, and variety in combos and kills for the aliens/ predators (without neglecting variety in predator weaponry), and you have yourselves a 5 star title. I'm glad they're scrapping the patch because anyone who was dumb enough to buy that game should suffer that loss for their ignorance. Games cost 60 bucks a pop, that's an investment worth doing research on before you purchase. Hopefully they'll go third person for a Predator title after the upcoming movie and finally do the name some justice.
