Capcom announced during its Tokyo Game Show press conference today that developer Ninja Theory is currently working on a new project by the name of DmC: Devil May Cry.

A short trailer depicted a dark-haired chap kitted out in a red & black coat, twin handguns and sword inside a mental institution. Having been asked what his name is, the individual answers 'Dante' before leaping out of a nearby window. It's worth noting that this latest incarnation of the iconic demon slayer looks younger than he did in previous games.

Keiji Inafune confirmed the game's being handled in America, and is being produced by Alex Jones. No release date was given, though Capcom confirmed it'll be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available to us.

I met the guys at Ninja Theory a couple of years back and they're a capable team- Heavenly sword did well. But it is hardly DMC. Lets hope they can live up to expection and deliver a better experience than the bland DMC4. And what do you think you are doing Capcom? Another current-gen DMC..... (zzzzzzz... snore...) MAKE ONIMUSHA 5 FOR HEAVENS SAKE!

what the heck? Has Ninja Theory made DMC before? I don't remember. Also, the guy in Black hair is "Dante"? Is this a prequel during his young life? Or he has black hair cuz he lost his powers? What is this? Well, we will have to wait and see.. I am a DMC fan but man.. this is weird. I hope I am not disappointed.

I would never believe that Capcom (and the whole gaming industry as well) would fall so low. I remember in the previous generation of consoles, each one having it's own exclusives, great games worked to perfection, according to each format abilities. So, for example, we had the resident evil exclusives for gamecube, the devil may cry series for ps2, even xbox no matter the low sales (however the best hardware), had it's own exclusives. Now, in the name of economic crysis, there is this money grabbing multiplatform policy from which we, the gamers, are the only ones to lose. And if you think of it, almost every worthy game of the current generation (with little exception) is exclusive! Metal Gear 4, Killzone2, Uncharted 1 & 2, God Of War 3, Heavy Rain e.t.c. same for XBOX360 and Wii. Where is the cutting edge technology that games like Final Fantasy always use to have? What is FFXIII anyway? What is the excuse about games like Resident Evil 5? (They already compare it with the 3DS version!!!). What is the meaning in putting in collector edition versions (like Resident Evil 5, DMC 4 etc) an extra DVD for bonus material, while there is at least 15GB free space in the Bluray disc?!  ( That is another subject though...) And all this downloadable content, even a week after a game is releashed is ridiculous. They can grab as much money as they wish, i really don't care, but to be worthy of our money they should be making good games first. THAT is what i care for. I am a fun of the DMC series and i just hope that this new multiplatform sequel won't dissapoint me. But i know one thing for sure: If it was a PS3 or an XBOX360 exclusive (PS3 preferable:)  it would be a better game.

There is one picture of this "Dante" gettin a mug shot taken.  He has a british flag or something on his sleeve...  I am wondering if this is not a different Dante.  Also the city is called "Limbo City" .  Maybe it is an alternate reality in between earth and h*ll or something...  As an artist I am all for a new art style, but a new Dante not so much.
