Following yesterday’s Twitter tease from Katsuhiro Harada regarding an impending announcement at the Tokyo Game Show today, the Tekken series producer has made good on his promise and unveiled a sequel to Tekken Tag Tournament.
Harada-san broke the news during a fighting tournament at the Japanese trade event earlier today, confirming Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is officially in the works for a summer 2011 release in Japanese arcades.
While a console version has yet to be formally announced, you only have to take a gander at the series’ history to know that a PlayStation 3 port is highly likely to happen later down the line (and if Tekken 6 is anything to go by, it’ll wind up on 360 and possibly PSP, too).
The original Tekken Tag was a launch title for PlayStation 2 back in 2000 and fans have been clamouring for a follow-up ever since. Check out the trailer below.
