CD Projekt RED has revealed that it is targeting a 2028 release date for the highly anticipated The Witcher IV.
The company made the announcement on social media, where Michal Nowakowski, co-CEO of CDPR, revealed that the developer has more than 500 people working on The Witcher IV, although noted the game won’t be appearing at GamesCom this year.

Back in June, Nowakowski stated during a Q&A following CDPR’s latest financial results that The Witcher IV had entered the “most intensive phase” of its development cycle, with the team expanded to over 500 developers.
The Witcher IV was originally announced during The Game Awards 2024 with a cinematic trailer, and revealed that Ciri will be replacing Geralt as the main protagonist – something that Geralt actor Doug Cockle fully supports. The role has been recast for The Witcher IV however, with Jo Wyatt replaced by Ciara Berkeley.
