CD Projekt RED has revealed in a statement to TheGamer that The Witcher IV has recast the role of Ciri after speculation gathered steam over the weekend that the character sounded notably different in the game’s reveal trailer.
Ciara Berkeley is now the voice behind Ciri for the next instalment in the critically acclaimed fantasy-RPG franchise, taking over the role from Jo Wyatt. This doesn’t just apply to the trailer itself; Berkeley is portraying the character for the entirety of The Witcher IV, CDPR confirmed.

Ciara Berkeley was cast as Ciri for The Witcher IV Cinematic Reveal Trailer. Ciara is a talented actress who impressed us with her enthusiasm and vocal acting skills, and in this trailer we believe she truly brought Ciri to life in a way that is both faithful to the character and exciting for fans of the series.
The Witcher IV received its debut trailer during Thursday’s The Game Awards as one of the many surprises at the event. Unlike the original trilogy, Geralt is taking a backseat in this new game, with Ciri the main character – something which CDPR says was ‘the super right choice.’ That’s not to say Geralt isn’t in the game at all; he is featured in The Witcher IV, and Doug Cockle’s voice was indeed heard in the trailer.
CDPR announced only recently that The Witcher IV had entered full-scale production, so that means we won’t be see the game anytime soon.
