ORIGINAL ARTICLE: It’s time for our final Fall Giveaway Spectacular, and this time we have a game that needs no introduction. Holding a competition can be tough work, so we are going to try something a bit new here at PSU. We will still follow the basic rules, listed below, and you will still need to answer the question, but this time we are leaving the selection process up to the community.
If websites are good at one thing, it’s that people can voice their opinions with anonymity. We have no doubt this question will quench everyone’s thirst for biased, fanboy remarks.
EA Sports likes to tout that the FIFA franchise is the best selling sports series of all time. A lot of people believe FIFA offers not only the best soccer (er, football outside the States) experience on a console, but also the best sports experience, hands down.
Here’s what we want you to post in the comments section below: Explain why the FIFA series is or is not the best sports game ever. Sounds simple, right? The trick is you have to convince your peers here at PSU that your opinion is worth a free copy of the game.
You will have until Dec. 6 to enter. At the end of the competition, we’ll update this article with a link to the forum thread where you can choose the winner. Instructions will follow at such time.
Please remember these rules:
* You must be 18-years or older.
* You must be registered with PSU.
* You must be respectful of everyone (we may ask you to do some outrageous stuff along this journey).
* Finally, you can only win once in this series of giveaways.
Good luck everyone. While this is the end of our Fall Giveaway Spectacular, we promise to offer more competitions in the near future; after all, the holidays are approaching.

Simplest answer possible... HOCKEY is the best sport ever. Therefore, the EA Sports NHL franchise has always offered the best gaming sport experience ever.

First of all, soccer is loved worldwide and fifa allows you to play against all different nationalities, which is always great, because we can all agree that each nations accents are generally hilarious/sweet. Also fifa is non stop actions, unlike baseball or football games. Also unlike those two franchises, fifa is easy to pickup, yet hard to master. Anyone can play fifa at any level, but if you want to be really good, you have to work for it. Finally, fifa is so detailed and each year they implement something new into the game play (i.e. play as a goalie). It has to be one of the most popular games globally and that kind of a reputation demands quality, what with the few other soccer games available.

While soccer here in the US is definitely not the most popular sport, you've got to recognize it is the most popular worldwide, that makes a soccer game appeal a much bigger and diverse set of people than any other sport.
And what sets the FIFA series aport from other soccer games is several things:
For starters, they have the rights to use the real names, colors, flags, stadiums, ... etc; this makes the FIFA games much more enjoyable as you can play using your favorite teams and characters. You can re-live everlong rivalries over and over.
Also, the mechanics, physics, movements, and level of detail keeps getting better and better. This makes for a more enjoyable experience. Even if you are just watching waiting for your turn it feels as if you are watching a real soccer match. For the hardcore it allows you to refine your skills to do all sort of tricks which result in awesome moves, but it also allows others to pick and play without having to practice all those crazy acrobatics.
IMHO that makes this game the best sports game... at least until the next one comes out =)

Fifa is infact the best sports game ever. Fifa 09 completely changed the industry in my opinion and created a new sports game all together. While PES tries to keep up with Fifa, it can't match its selection of teams, accurate commentary, better graphics, and the fact that every year Fifa games make more and more changes. No other sports game can keep up with Fifa, just because no other sports game has the fan base that fifa has and has the amount of depth Fifa has. Which is why i think Fifa is the best sports game.

Football or soccer in North America is KING in sports. FIFA 11 is the best version on a football game reenacted on any game console or pc so far. FIFA 11 makes the game more real than ever along with the individual player personality as well as all the extra modes to play with. It's a must have game for all you soccer(football) fans.

I think the FIFA series is the best sports series because it's ever improving. Since it actually has competition unlike madden. Also, since football is the worlds most popular sport it must conform to pleasing a large number and variety of fans. Pleasing most football fans is a hard thing in itself. I think it also has the most realistic controls but is still accessible by everyone.

FIFA is not the best sports game for one simple reason, it can't replicate the intricicies of actual football. This is not a knock on FIFA, it's a fabulous franchise, but until the development can catch up with reality, football(soccer) games will be behind other games that are more true to their sport. Now, all sports games suffer from this disadvantage to some degree, but FIFA suffers the most. So much of football revolves around reaction and vision. Online play solves a lot of these issues by having human input, but needing to play online to benefit from the best the sport has to offer is a bit of a downside. American football, hockey, baseball, and other sports that have a more set playbook and utilize scripted plays will continue to provide a more true to life experience, and this will make them the better overall game. With this reasoning, the NHL series is the best franchise out there right now, and it will only continue to get better and more realistic.

Ofcourse FIFA is the best series ever. How can a person deny themselves the power to play the best with the best. It gives a person to play one of the worlds top sports. Although the game is not purchased as much as other games, it deserves a chance no matter what. Lets face it soccer is awesome and it is just as exciting as any other sport. Damn i hope theres like a vuvuzela soundtrack or somthing. Woot Fifa for the win.

FIFA is not the best sports game ever. In fact, I don't really like it at all but if it's free then maybe it well inspire the greatness to overcome me. I like free things, so thus you may convert me to a FIFA fan if you give me a copy. Makes sense, right? I win.

If high intensity realistic simulation is what you look for in sports games then look no further than Fifa 11. No other game has been able to take genuine gameplay and put it in video game form better than Fifa11. It doesn't feel like you are controlling a player in a game, it feels like you are controlling a player in real life. Fifa 11 - Get In The Game!

FIFA Series is not the best sports game ever. What is? Football Manger (1982 ZX Spectrum). The game changed the market. I'm sure it was selling off the shelves like a Tickle me Elmo on a Christmas Eve Night. The game gave birth to the idea of so many FIFA modes. Sure this game is crummy now. And sure I might or might not have played the game? But I'm sure we can all agree that this little ole engine that could, changed sports games for ever? Maybe... Regardless it was the first, which makes it pretty important. So lets just call this a night and say hail to Football Manger on the ZX Spectrum.

Well Here it is!!! FIFA is the best ever!! Lets start why
1) First off its Soccer!!! Yes i might agree that it might not be the best sport game to watch over and over! but its one fun game to play.
2) The information they use and the states and everything in the game is ON POINT. the players feel like they should and it looks like EA really points there time to see every player and make them feel and move like they do in real life.
3) The physics and everything in the game is just GREAT!! the ball moves how it does and the player do tricks depending on them!!!!
4) THE LAST FINAL ONE!!! you might say its just soccer but its more then that!! its a sport that no matter were your from or if your white or black or hispanic or chiniess or anything its a sport every nation knows how to play and play against. in time of war or peace or hunger or probloms! no matter what country vs who in soccer its always just about the sport... about just going to the field and doing your best! to put everytihng you got and at the end just shake hands and walk away...
Thats why i think its the best Sport, and game out there!! Peace yall :D :D

In terms of video games, ecspeically sports games there is no 'best' game. The Fifa series is a great series and so is the NHL series and it all falls on the player who enjoys the game. Therefore, with that said I belive Fifa is one of the best series ever made because I personally enjoy the game of soccer both on and off the field and soccer is truly a sport with lots of respect.

The question is one that will produce varying results because everyone has a bias that is affected by their favourite sport. Many people who will follow a sport through it's seasons will be a big supporter of sports games based off their respective sport. Some people will love playing a game outside and will love playing it on a console/pc as well while some will hate playing that sport as a video game. I fall into this latter category when it comes to FIFA. I love playing Soccer IRL(football for all you Non-Western folk) but playing it on the with a controller doesn't feel right to me. I feel very detached from the game. The camera angle is detached and presented in a format similar to TV broadcasting but pulled back further so you can see your environment around you and switch between players. This is done so you effectively control the team. I'd rather have total control over one player and play from a first or close third person view. Few sports games allow you to do that because it means they have to work harder on making visuals and animations look good close up during gameplay. It also doesn't help that many people just want to play as the whole team instead of a single player either.
There can only be one greatest sports game ever and it's probably still waiting for us many many years down the line when we can just simulate the feeling of playing directly to our brain but for now the best sports game is Rockstar's Table Tennis. When it comes down to being the greatest simulator of the capturing the nuances, intensity and immersion of playing a real sport Rockstar's Table Tennis comes out on top stacked against any other sports game on the market.

The FIFA series is the best sports game ever made mainly beacuse football is such a huge success all over the globe. With FIFA, you can have control of your favourite club from Division 1 and promote them and make them become Premeirship Champions, and with FIFA being the only licensed game, the authenticity just makes it that bit better. Even though year in year out a new FIFA will come along, fans would always want the next one just to have the new kits, new players etc etc etc..
