Square Enix has dropped its biggest hint yet that it’s busy hammering away on a sequel to Final Fantasy XIII by stealthily registering the domain ‘Final Fantasy13-2game.com.’
The domain was spotted by the eagle-eyed superannuation, while fellow web snoopers at Unofficial Final Fantasy Site unearthed a further three registrations from Square, namely Neir, Front Mission Evolved and Gun Loco.
With the Japanese giant currently gearing up for its anticipated “Square Enix 1st Production Department Premier” event later this month, there’s every chance we could be in for a surprise FFXIII-2 announcement. Stay tuned.

Idiot's.
FFXIII was a great game the only thing it lacked was lack of open world exploration.
The story line and gameplay are quite simply put amazing. Bet you all the haters are like ' Its not FF7 or 10 so it's sh1t'

Say what you like, the sales show FFXIII sold the worst of any FF game thus far. Weeks after the launch of the game bargain bins were over flowing with unsold copies as companies try to sell them off at a massively reduced price. The game is nothing like FF 1-X2, it shouldn’t have final fantasy in its title it is not a final fantasy game, it is a linear progression story book. The combat system, i couldn’t believe it at first, was actually worse than the one they used in 12.
13 lacked everything that makes a final fantasy game great, good story, good game play, an open world to explore slowly opening up more and more as you progress revealing a vast world. It didn’t even have a proper level up system. You also could not directly control more than 1 party member, that is just retarded, final fantasy games have always had 3-5 party members under your control allowing you to develop some great strategies and combat tactics, rather than hitting the change operation button and letting the AI take care of what happens. Id rather play the game than watch the computer do it for me (FFXII had the same problem). The characters were the least memorable and had no impact on me at all of any final fantasy game, i have more interest in vann the not-protagonist from FFXII than i do any of the characters from FFXIII.
And for those of you who are all like ‘your just whining its not like all the other FF games’ damn strait I am. If you stick the final fantasy title on a game I expect to be playing a game similar in basic concept to the multiple previous titles in the series. If half life 3 came out as a light con gun game with little to no connection to the previous half life games (ground breaking first person shooter titles) beyond shooting soldiers and aliens would you say you shouldn’t complain because the game has next to nothing in common with the previous entrys in the title and deviates almost entirely from what made the series great? I think not. Final Fantasy 13 took everything that was great about the final fantasy series and threw it out the window leaving us with a husk of a plot stapled onto a straight line that required no thought or challenge to get through. However I do recall when last square enix tried to go the sequel rout (at least then they tried with a game that had sold massively well) and while the sequel plot was not up to the standard of the first the game play was greatly improved and proved a more enjoyable game to play even if the plot was somewhat lacking. So here is to hoping SE learns from their mistakes and makes an enjoyable game with a decent plot to go with it, and not in a straight line thanks.(tho trying to spring board of a flopped title is asking for trouble right from the start)

@7 the story line in XIII is horrible, nothing happens to advance the story from chapters 3-9. All you hear is a bunch of whinny character, reading a wall of text is fun ****ing datalog. The gameplay was awful, libra, paradigm shift, then press X and shift once in awhile. BTW FF IX is my favorite.

I honestly enjoyed playing XIII. I enjoyed it more than I did XII. I hated XII and it's my least favorite one in the series. Glad to see Square is making a sequel to XIII, assuming it true.
As for the worst Final Fantasy game ever, wouldnt that be Final Fantasy XIV? Last I checked XIV was a complete failure on the PC and has much lower ratings than XIII. Granted I have yet to play XIV, but still for what I've heard it's so much worse than XIII.

A sequel!? Really? Please Sqaure, don't. Just do NOT do it. The game had a perfectly fine closing storyline! I know I'm gonna get it regardless (Unless it's an MMO like XI and XIV) but spend less time on it then I did on any other FF game. FFXIII didn't have that good of a storyline at all. It was almost as bad as that of FFXII. I enjoyed XIII though the gameplay is just auto battle, auto battle, auto battle. I had fun enjoying the scenery and the Cie'th Stone mission were my favorite part of the game. After finishing those, it got stale very quick and I quickly proceeded to drop the game :/.
And I don't know about other people but I enjoyed every FF (FFIII was a real letdown though :|). FFXII is actually my favorite. I LOVED the Gambit system for battling. It just made the battles more fast paced whilst your characters still doing what you want. The storyline was REALLY lacking though. The gameplay and the vast exploration and FUN farming (unlike FFXIII. Farming to get the best equipment, several times even is imo 1 of the funnest things to do in an RPG game but FFXIII took that away imo) turned it into 1 of my favorite games of all time and I spent over 2000 (around 2500) hours on doing challenge runs (FFXII is full with possible challenge runs) and a Perfecter Game walkthrough twice. I enjoyed this so much, it's unbelievable.
And apparently I am one of the very few that enjoyed FFX less than FFIV - FFIX + FFXII. FFX is really 1 of my least favorite FFs out there.Really, I could go on talking the entire day about FF but let me just say this in short. Sqaure, FINISH VERSUS XIII, Do NOT make it a multiplatform game, put in some sort of overworld, maybe the same overworld you used for The Last Remnant (loved that game) with explorable areas and a good storyline. Bring back the FF storylines from the SquareSoft times!
