MX vs. ATV Alive, the next motocross game in the MX vs. ATV franchise, was officially announced by THQ earlier today.

Alive, which will retail for a cool $40 USD, touts enhanced physics over the last entry in the series, MX vs. ATV Reflex. THQ also claims the game will be supported by an "unprecedented digital content distribution strategy," which means you'll see a lot of downloadable content hit the PlayStation Network after the game launches.

You know, if we all went a bit slower, we'd probably crash less...

Michael Lustenberger, THQ Vice President of Global Brand Management Online/Digital, offered some insight into what players can expect from this latest entry in the MX vs. ATV franchise.

"MX vs. ATV Alive introduces a new Bar-to-Bar gameplay mechanic that allows players to physically fight for the lead by going elbow-to-elbow and banging handlebars," said Lustenberger. "Combined with the smoother controls and refined terrain deformation, the intense rider collision will make this the most realistic and accessible motocross game yet."

We'll see, Lustenberger, we'll see. MX vs. ATV Alive races to retail in May 2011.

i really hope the rider collisions are better in this one, the last one was great but it got really annoying whenever anybody tapped you mid-air. its like you'd fly off and do a barrel roll or flat spin
