Sony is about to release the PSP's next firmware update, VP of Network Operations Eric Lempel today announced on the PlayStation Blog.
The update, PSP firmware version 6.37, is a minor one that will "improve system software stability during use of some features."
Firmware updates also commonly seal off potential system exploits from would-be hackers.
We'll keep you updated on future firmware updates for PlayStation systems as soon as we hear about them. You know, the PS3 is overdue for a few new features...

I don't even remember the last upda for PS3 or PSP that wasn't a "minor" one. We haven't gotten anything really big in a firmware update in awhile from sony.
Eve though it is kind of nice. Everytime firmware update was mentioned everyone would cry finally cross game chat and we never got it, I just realized that idea finally died down lol.

Regardless of what this firmware will do, now that people can sign their own homebrew this won't be enough.

How about providing a netflix app for the PSP. I know alot of people have wanted it for some time. The device could easily support it with it's built in wifi. There is just so much wasted potential that Sony doesn't seem to bother with. It's just funny to me that everyone will be asking for netflix(psp), cross game chat or party support, emulated backwards compatibility(ps3) etc... and Sony updates the firmware with a new photo gallery or something lame like that. Come on, I know it's possible, the homebrewers are doing it!
