The nominees for 2010 Game of the Year are...

And the winner is...

Though it faced some tough competition in 2010, Rockstar San Diego's Red Dead Redemption absolutely blew us away with its engaging plotline, sumptuous visuals, and intense action sequences. Like many games nowadays, Red Dead Redemption astounds at first sight, but its subtleties continue impress five, ten, even twenty hours into the experience (we still can't get over the game's gorgeous day/night cycle). With all sorts of characters and critters scurrying around, Rockstar's Old West is expansive but certainly not desolate; in fact, the world positively teems with life. Toss in a superb soundtrack, a comprehensive morality system, and a fantastic suite of multiplayer options; the end result is a polished, creative take on the open-world genre that redefines the western. John Ford would be proud.

And the Community Award goes to...

God of War III reigned in the almighty popular vote among the PSU community, winning the 2010 Community Game of the Year award. 42% of users voted in favor of Sony Santa Monica's latest epic for Game of the Year. Our editorial team's 2010 Game of the Year winner, Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption, lassoed 29% of user votes for Game of the Year, second only to Kratos' premiere PS3 outing. Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain sopped up 19.6% of votes, followed by Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood with 9.3%. Lastly, less than 1% of the community sprang for Ready at Dawn's impressive PSP counterpart, God of War: Ghost of Sparta.

Grand theft horse is probably the most overrated game of 2010. It's not that great. It's beyond obvious that one of the editors at PSU have a fanboyish love for it, since they praise it's empty deserts and countless hours of borring, well...everything, every chance they get.

For a site solely dedicated to the PS3 I would at least thought you would have actually chosen a PS3 title instead of something that I can play all the same on other platforms.  Everyone else has already given this game of the year, why should your opinion matter any more.  In fact, it is already February and you guys are just now giving your 2010 game awards.  Little late on the delivery sirs!

@1 - The majority of gaming magazines, websites, blogs, tv shows, podcasts, etc. have said that RDR is the game of the year.

Everyone is right, you are wrong.

@4 FYI, I loved Red Dead Redemption!  It's one of the funnest games I have played in recent years.  I would just like to have seen it go to something more like Heavy Rain.  God of War III was amazing but Heavy Rain actually dared to do something a little different.  I have never been drawn more into a narrative story than I did with that game.  So you can take those rude fanboy-ish remarks back.  Funny how you attack me so, when this is a PS3 site.  So why don't you just attack this site for being fanboy's?  Because that's exactly what they are.  I love you people, you all get worked up just as much as the fanboy's themselves do.  You act like you are better just because your are more accepting of other games on other systems.  Grow up!  Listen, I love games, period.  But it's not going to stop me for settling down with my fav console and exclusive library of choice, the PS3.  If you yourself want to get but-hurt for thinking I'm but-hurt about being a fanboy then you sir are even are more pathetic.  But enough of the name calling.  Can't we just all get along, enjoy gaming, without having to put other down in such a negative way.  Doing so for something as trivial as video games is down right stupid.
