Remember that teaser site for an unspecified Oreshika project that popped up a few days ago? Well, it turns out the game’s actually a remake of the classic PSOne RPG, known as Ore no Shikabane wo Koeteyuke in the Land of the Rising Sun.

News comes following a concert in Tokyo this week, where celebrated warbler Ryoko Kihara gave an ear-popping performance of the game’s theme tune, Hana, as well as a few other select tracks. Game designer Shouji Masuda and author Yuri Mitsuhara were also in attendance as expected.

Masuda-san let slip a prototype version of the title received the green light from Sony, allowing production on the title to go into full swing. As such, development of the project has already progressed fairly swiftly. Platforms weren’t confirmed, though Masuda went on to hint that he’s already musing over the direction of the “next” title in the franchise.

The designer also suggested that gamers could expect some meaty improvements for the remake, stating that if the original were taken as a math test it'd score 70%, while the remake would bag over 90%.

Famitsu magazine should be getting some more details from the event in the near future, so stay tuned for more developments.
