SEGA’s lifted the wraps off a new downloadable military co-op romp from Avalanche Studios by the name of Renegade Ops.
Due for release later this year, the vehicle-based blaster plonks players in a mobile commando unit tasked with overthrowing a dastardly terrorist chap known as Inferno, who is apparently “intent on global domination.”
Gamers will be able to pilot a heap of different vehicles and wage war with a variety of destructive weapons, including electromagnetic shock waves and Gatling Guns.
Renegade Ops will offer a bog-standard single-player campaign as well as a meaty online component, the latter of which offers two-player offline co-op split screen and four-player online co-op play.
Avalanche founder and executive producer, Christofer Sundberg, commented: “Renegade Ops is Avalanche Studios’ first strategic step into the world of digitally downloaded games, but certainly not the last. With a strong foundation in our unique technology, we can allow our teams working on digitally downloaded games to unleash their creativity.”
Senior producer Andreas Thorsén also chipped in, offering, “A number of developers in the studio wanted to try developing a smaller digital project, so we gathered a team, built a new IP and SEGA gave us the opportunity to carry this out. The IP is all about driving or flying around blowing stuff up while playing with your friends and that to us, is a dream-project.”
Renegade Ops will be released on PlayStation Network, Xbox LIVE and PC.
