Quinton Flynn 'in the dark' over Metal Gear Solid: Rising return

Metal Gear Solid voice actor Quinton Flynn has said he’s “in the dark” in regards to whether or not he will be reprising his role of Raiden for MGS: Rising.

Speaking to TheGamingLiberty, Flynn revealed that he’s yet to be approached by developer Konami about voicing the floppy-haired hero following appearances in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

“I am completely in the dark. I have no answers. I have no idea,” said Flynn. “I have not been approached in anyway shape or form. There has been no communication. There’s been no information and I don’t know what’s going on. I’ve tried to make efforts to find out what’s happening and have not been able to get any answers at all.”

Unfortunately, while admitting he’d love to return to the role, Flynn isn’t very optimistic over the whole affair, adding:

“I would love for them to make that phone call. I would love for them to give me a jingle and let me know that maybe they’ve been working on lots of other stuff for this game and now they’re ready for me. But I don’t have high hopes, let’s just put it that way. I’m not expecting anything.”

Metal Gear Solid: Rising is due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360. A release date has yet to be announced, though rumors have suggested a 2012 launch.

Rising takes place between MGS2 and MGS4, chronicling Raiden’s transition from whiny-voiced protagonist to death-dealing, melon-slicing Ninja swordsman.
