NFL Sunday Ticket coming to PS3, costs more than a new console

NFL fans have held their collective breath waiting for the football season to start—for more than one reason—but there is plenty to look forward to this year, especially if you own a PlayStation 3. Sony has teamed up with satellite television provider DirecTV to bring its NFL Sunday Ticket package to the PlayStation 3.

NFL Sunday Ticket is exclusive to DirecTV and includes up to 14 NFL games every Sunday, full HD for every game, and DirecTV’s Red Zone Channel. If you like football, this probably sounds great. But the price tag may put some PS3 owners off a bit, seeing as a season is more than a brand spanking new PS3. The season price will cost $339.95 USD for those who do not have access to DirecTV. If you do have access, the service will cost $50 and your PS3 will serve as an additional receiver.

Sports fans should also check out MLB.TV and NHL GameCenter on the PS3.

Watch out for blackouts for local teams. NHL GameCenter Live screwed a bunch of people with their non-specific detailing of what games will not be available.

Example: Vancouver Canucks fans cannot watch the games if they live in British Columbia because the games are already airing on cable... which I refuse to pay for! So, many people could be surprised after spending the money for NFL Sunday Ticket.

That\'s how season sports packages are. A baseball season pass costs $300 per season. So $340 is only a tad higher. It might sound like a lot, but if you\'re a sports fan it\'s pretty sweet. Especially since NFL Sunday Ticket is exclusive to DirecTV users, PS3 owners can get a piece of the action. Great move by Sony in my opinion. Personally I don\'t really care much for football so I won\'t buy this. First MLB.TV and now NFL Sunday Ticket. Two of America's favorite sports. Good stuff, Sony.
