During the first ever Call of Duty XP event in Los Angeles, CA, Activision dropped more details on what we can expect from the Hardened edition of Modern Warfare 3 -- and its new price hike.

While no pricing has ever been confirmed prior to this announcement, the Hardened editions of both Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops were priced at $79.99. No comment has been given on why the price was raised by $20, however, one can only imagine that this has something to do with Call of Duty Elite being bundled in with MW3’s Hardened Edition.

Below if a full breakdown of what to expect in the Modern Warfare 3 Hardened Edition:

* Special edition disc art
* Special Founder status in Call of Duty Elite (includes XP boost, in game emblems, weapon camouflage, and more)
* Steelbook case
* Limited Edition collectible field journal
* 1 year subscription to the premium Call of Duty Elite service
* PS3 dynamic “Timeline” theme (PS3 version)

The Xbox 360 version of the Hardened Edition will feature exclusive avatar gear for Xbox Live. The MW3 HE will be released on November 8.

    1st time being 1st haha,Call of duty had turned into (COB) call of your benjamins......I don't feel that these price adjustments will affect them in the short run,as well as the same gameplay. Over an extended period of time possibly when the next cod comes out people will realize that this company is now more interested in getting more money out a gamer instead of focusing on creating a great game. Battlefield 3 and Cod will be equal in sales terms,but I trully believe (Not being a fanboy) that BF3 will be considered the better of the two. Game hard PSN: VInnyxMac

    Completely agree. I buy cod and only mw mostly because I don't like treyarch's versions. Also because it will start to feel like I'm buying madden, every year there's a new one. It doesn't justify it for me to buy one every year.

    However though I don't like the style of bf I can see them actually trying to improve whereas cod banks on the same addictive gameplay. I still love cod because it gives me what I want so I will buy it over bf, but bf does try to add more.

    Not a bad price tag considering you get a year subscription to CoD:E which is what 50 quid on its own? Sounds good to me.

    And I can't WAIT for BF3 to come out and everyone becomes disappointed because BF2 was nothing, NOTHING like BFBC2 and Bf3 is going back to Bf2 style of gameplay. Bfbc was a spin of series to play around with the frostbite engine which turned out to be a popular serier but BF and BFBC ganes are totally different in how they play.

    Pre-ordering this for sure.

    What a friggin joke. I traded in black ops the second they tried to charge 15 bucks for a map pack. I will never go with COD again. After the firing of the guys who built the franchise, it became so obvious to me that Activision was just about the $$$$$$. Go ahead and run it into the ground. See what happens when you get too greedy. Just look at Hollywood. They do this type of thing all the time. Its a shame.

    Cannot believe HenryPSN hasn't been banned yet... Most useless comment ever. I'm not gonna waste any money on this hardened edition or on Elite but seriously cannot wait for spec ops. Everyone says Activision and COD are just money grabbing now but i've had a lot more VALUE from these games than most others. I never thought I'd play any game for more than 100 hours that wasn't an RPG!
