Japanese visual novel Maji de Watashi ni Koishinasai! (to the rest of us, that means “Do Love Me Seriously!”) is set to make its way to the PlayStation 3 in Japan, slated for a spring 2012 release.

The PS3 version of the adult visual novel by Minato Soft will be abbreviated as Majikoi R, and will include new mini-games and the inclusion of higher res 1280x720 work.

Set in the fictional Kawakami City that's said to have strong samurai ancestry, the story follows the exploits of second year high school student Yamato and a number of girls who are trained in martial arts.

The first Majikoi title was released on Windows back in 2009. A sequel, Majikoi S, is currently in development. An anime adaptation was premiered on Japanese television network AT-X last week.

    How is this news?

PS3 gets lots of dating sims in Japan. Is there anything particular notable about this one?

^^ Actually, it doesn't. Especially not adult visual novels, most are only available on Windows becuase Sony are pretty strict on the whole thing (same with MS and obviously Nintendo). I think Rapelay or a title from Illusion was apparently supposed to hit PS2 but didn't because of Sony.

They should try to translate one or two of the most popular visual novels and publish them in the west to see if there is a market for it here. All though, I can't imagine it being very confortable to read a whole novel on a television screen, especially not back in the SD-resolution days. Maybe PSVita instead?

I'm not a huge follower of the genre, but just offhand I can think of Tears to Tiara, Record of Agarast War, White Album, and To Heart 2 on the PS3. Plus a handful on PS2 and a ton of PSP.

@3 not really, people didn't mind back on the SNES with all the JRPGs, thats basically what a visual novel is in a way, there really isn't THAT much text difference between one and a JRPG, some even have less much less text.
