Bethesda has announced that The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has sold over 3.5 million units in just 48 hours.

The fantasy RPG hit stores on November 11 and Bethesda expects the game’s launch to rake in over $450 million worldwide in retail sales.

Bethesda shipped a total of seven million units for the game's release, and confirmed over 50 percent of launch copies found their way into the hands of consumers in Skyrim's first 48 hours on sale.

Robert Altman, Chairman and CEO of ZeniMax Media, commented, "We are grateful for the fans' response to Skyrim.”

"Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation forSkyrim has surpassed any game in our company's history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides."

"Without a doubt, this has been our most ambitious project ever," added Skyrim game director, Todd Howard. "After over three years of development, we're finally excited to get it into everyone's hands."

The GUI navigation for the PC version is one of the worst I've ever come across in my years of PC gaming, but other than that loving the game a lot.

@3 If you want to be pedantic then how about this:

The PS3 version of Skyrim is one of the worst GUI's I've ever come across in gaming history, but still loving the game.

Happy? Sorry but Bethesda really should go back to their old ways of where they knew how to make a proper GUI - Morrowind anyone?

Most of my games are PS3/2/1 I do have a few for PC; Oblivion was a PC game I had and I loved the modding options; the ability to clean up a few things.  So I went with PC for Skyrim as well.  I agree that the GUI is a bit annoying.  It is an excellent game. There are definite improvements over Oblivion, but it feels like a great addition rather then a replacement; which is nice.  I also miss the traditional map, particularly because finding the roads on the aerial view is rather hard.  It looks cool, but is not as practical.
