Valve drops Counter-Strike PS3/PC cross-play

Valve’s revealed it has canned plans for PlayStation 3/PC cross-platform play for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
Apparently, the decision boiled down to the fact its inclusion could hamper the studio’s ability to provide frequent post-launch updates for the shooter.
"The beta has proved we want to update not just the beta, but the game itself post-launch frequently on the PC," Valve’s Chet Faliszek explained to Joystiq.
"To do that, we need to separate the platforms so one doesn't hamstring the other. So for that, we have removed the idea of cross-platform play - essentially make all platforms stronger by not mixing them."
Cross-play would have presumably translated quite smoothly for Counter-Strike, given the fact Sony’s flagship console features keyboard and mouse compatibility.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is due out on PS3, PC and Xbox 360 in summer 2012.

And who cares about this game? I have played that game 10 years ago, and watched a new trailer for this new up-coming one, and it looks the same. Ps1 graphic games looks better then this new counter strike. You can keep it to your self fools.

@2 the game isnt designed to look pretty. its designed to work well. they wanted a graphic overhaul to imporve on it. and its far beyond PS1 graphics. if you want a comparison its probably slightly above average for PS2 quality games. That isnt its appeal. Its one of the most revered titles in online multiplayer FPS history. It doesnt let you gain skill by playing more often than anyone else, its designed so that if youre better at this game than someone else, youre better, flat out period, nothing is going to let that other person be better than you, except for them getting better. no other game does that.
Cod you can level up and do more damage and get more weapons and all this extra crap. Counterstrike everyone is gets the same equipment, the same maps, the same speed, the same jump height. if youre good at this game, youre good at it. if youre not, youll die a lot more often. no matter what. and thats what makes it a great game.

@3 yeah, friend I understood that but atlease enhance the graphics or the enviroment. I have watched few game play and it didn't engrossed me at all and no one maybe will think of those features that you mentioned as they will say we are playing on a PC a very powerfull machine to play games and see this weak graphics of the game. To say the truth. I would say this game is close to socom when it first came out on the Ps3 which it had a very weak graphics and game-play but maybe people still would buy it even though its on PC.
