Developer Spark Unlimited is developing the latest entry in the Lost Planet franchise for Capcom, a leaked trailer has confirmed.
The trailer, comprised of CGI footage, surfaced on YouTube earlier today before quickly being pulled, though it was up long enough to confirm Lost Planet 3 for an ‘early 2013’ launch on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Capcom has handled the first two Lost Planet titles internally, though its decision to hand the reins over to another studio follows a recent trend of outsourcing its biggest franchises to western developers.
This year has already seen Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City, which was developed by Slant Six Games. Similarly, 2010’s Dead Rising 2 was outsourced to western studio Blue Castle Games.
Spark Unlimited is perhaps best known for its work on the current-gen shooters Turning Point: Fall of Liberty and Legendary: The Box, and also worked on Call of Duty spin-off Finest Hour for GameCube, PS2 and Xbox.
