Update: We're extending the competition to Twitter followers, so you don't need to be signed up to our forum.
Simply post - "RT to win a PS Vita with Pure Chess - http://tinyurl.com/cyrqccx" from your Twitter account.
The competition has also been extended until midnight on the 29th April, 2012.
Read below for details and you can now enter via the forums or on Twitter.
Okay, so we might spend most of our free time these days straining our eyes playing games in front of a 42” screen, but board games do occasionally provide a nice little distraction away from the hullabaloo of first-person shooters, and back in our school days we did enjoy the challenge and strategic depth that a good game of chess offers.
It’s good to see then that U.K. based developer Ripstone has taken the popular two-player board game and brought it to the PSN complete with a range of detailed chess pieces, 1080p visuals, tournaments, tutorials and the opportunity to take on other chess players in the ultimate game of skill and wits.
Pure Chess has been available to download on PSN for a couple of weeks now, but this week also sees the launch of the PS Vita version, which means that you can now play Pure Chess on the move at your convenience.
To celebrate its release, Ripstone has joined forces with PlayStation Universe to giveaway a PlayStation Vita console, a large garden chess set and a copy of Pure Chess on PSN.

To enter you need to be registered on our forums and be from the U.K.
Here’s what you need to do:
Step 1: If you haven't already, register on the PlayStation Universe forums
Step 2: Visit the Pure Chess website and check out the list of game features
Step 3: Visit this forum thread and tell us what your favourite game feature is and why
Step 4: Check out the thread on Friday April 27th to see if you won!
The winner will be drawn at random from all sensible answers posted in the forums. The winner will have to provide a UK address otherwise the prize will be forfeited and we will choose another winner.
If you’re not lucky enough to win but still want to get your hands on Pure Chess, it’s available now via the PlayStation Store on PS3 and PS Vita.

As I cannot seem to reply on the forums :)
The feature I am most looking forward to is the comprehensive tutorial system.
I've always wanted to be a grandmaster chess player (ok, well maybe a more competent chess player) and I believe that the tutorial system will give me the guidence I need to comfortably ease past my opponents.

Changing the competition / Giveaway to include easy entry through Twiiter and extending it Two days kind of blows.
I entered as a member of the forums an was liking my chances until they did this. If they want to give one system away to forum members and another to twitter people that would be fine by me, but you don't go changing the rules of a short lived contest a day or two before the contest ends, it's not a way to win fans.
Five days into the contest only 2 pages of people had followed the rules and made an appropriate post in the forum thread. Maybe that's small potatoes to the software developer and they wanted more bang for the money their PS Vita cost them. But their marketing department should take the hit here, not the members of the PSU Forums. If I'd have known these were the terms at the start of the contest I wouldn't have teken the time to enter.
This will permanently ban this user and delete all associated comments. This action is irreversible, are you SURE you want to do this?!
