Electronic Arts has confirmed that it will charge users $50 per year for its Battlefield 3 Premium service.

Unlike competitor Activision’s Call of Duty Elite however, EA’s effort will not charge monthly; instead, gamers will be required to pay for Battlefield 3’s extras upfront. The service is expected to save users $25.

So, what does this service bring exactly? Well, for one, you’ll be able to erase your game statistics, as well as net special bonus items including dogtags and knives. Furthermore, PlayStation 3 owners who subscribe will be able to experience any downloadable content a fortnight in advance compared to non-members.

Battlefield 3 has proven a considerable success for the publishing giant, with the game selling a massive 15 million copies worldwide since its release in October 2011.

Furthermore, EA has been ramping up its digital output as of late, with the industry behemoth reporting digital revenue of $1.2 billion last year.

Stay tuned to PSU.com for more details on EA’s Battlefield 3 Premium service from EA’s press conference later today.

I dont understand why people like #1 whine so much? do you not get enough attention at home or something? If you don't like the service, then don't buy it. No one is forcing you. It's such a childish thing to just throw up your hands and say "screw it, some people would pay extra for extra content, I'm not ever going to play this game because of that". Have fun whining your way through life.
