Sony is keeping tight-lipped on the long-rumored PlayStation 3-4000 model following its absence at Gamescom last week.
The new SKU is supposedly going to feature 16GB of flash memory and will ship in 250GB and 500GB flavours. Previous reports put the model on track for a formal reveal at Sony’s Gamescom presser on August 14 — however, this wasn’t the case.
However, when asked about its no-show by CVG, Jim Ryan, head of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), simply said: “Which new PS3,” and laughed it off.
“Well, we had so much to talk about on the software side, and that’s all we wanted to talk about,” he added.
Sony has previously used Gamescom to debut new hardware revisions. In 2009, the platform holder lifted the lid on the PS3 Slim, and in 2011, it unveiled a budget version of the PSP, the E1000 model.
