Speaking in an interview with Gamespot, Sony and Superbot Entertainment have confirmed that Raiden, the infamous protagonist from Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, has joined the roster for Sony’s upcoming fighting game, PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Raiden appears as he does in the upcoming action title Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance from Platinum Games, and his fighting style mirrors the sword-based antics seen in both Rising and Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

So, not the MGS character people were hoping for perhaps, but given the roster of third party characters announced so far it's understandable why Raiden is here. Besides, he's now a total badass.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is due out on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in November 2012.

I'm pumped. Ninja Raiden = Awesome Raiden, and I'm sure he'll be a fun character to play as.
