Oddworld creator keen on Abe for PlayStation All-Stars

Oddworld’s bug-eyed hero Abe would be an ideal fit for Sony’s upcoming PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, reckons series creator Oddworld Inhabitants.

The oddball character, who appeared in PlayStation classics Abe’s Oddysee and Abe’s Exodus, has certainly earned his right as one of the most iconic heroes to grace a Sony platform, but as of yet his appearance in Battle Royale hasn’t been confirmed.

Oddworld Inhabitants has said that it’s approached Sony America on including Abe in the upcoming brawler, but hasn’t heard back yet.

“I was over at Sony America and they were definitely up for it, but the developer hasn’t gotten back to us," said development director Stewart Gilray, during a chinwag with CVG.

"We’ve been trying to get in touch with them since May and can’t work out if they’ve fixed their character line-up for the release version or if they’re simply not interested?!"

Despite this, Gilray said he’d "absolutely be interested" in getting Abe a secured spot on the roster via post-release content.

“We’d love to get him in the game. We’ve already been talking about the moves he could have like possessing Kratos and beating the shit out of everyone…I guess they’re busy and we’re busy," he added.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is due out in November 2012 for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. And, while Abe’s inclusion in the fighter is still up in the air, he’ll be back in the limelight next summer with a high-definition remake of his original PSOne classic, Abe’s Oddysee.
