EA Sports has revealed that FIFA 13 shifted 353,000 copies in the U.S. during its first 24 hours on sale.

The figure represents a year-on-year increase of 42 per cent, with the latest instalment in the footie franchise eclipsing the record set by its predecessor, FIFA 12.

EA also confirmed that 1.4 million online matches have been played in the U.S. within the same time frame.

Said the company: “We’re thrilled that fans throughout North America have embraced FIFA Soccer 13 in such a big way.”

FIFA 13 was released in the U.S. on Tuesday and arrives in the U.K. today. Check out our review here.

Probably because the americans are slowly starting to realise that REAL football is the best sport watch, as opposed to their stop start stand around for ages game they try and call football (even though they dont use their feet)
