Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil 6 has shipped 4.5 million copies worldwide since its launch on October 2, 2012.
As a result, the zombie horror sequel has become Capcom’s highest-ever shipped title at launch, breaking all previous records.
"Capcom has for many years used its multi-platform strategy of developing titles across many game platforms to make its brands even more popular," Capcom commented.
"In addition, Capcom uses the Single content multiple usage strategy to maximize the value of its content. By continuing to use these approaches, Capcom is determined to provide a diverse spectrum of game players worldwide with games that meet their highest expectations."
Resident Evil 6 is available now for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The title takes place 15 years after Raccoon City’s destruction, and offers three main campaigns: Leon, Chris and Jake. In addition, players can unlock a fourth scenario starring sultry spy Ada Wong, as well as series staple The Mercenaries and the all-new Agent Hunt Mode.

Clearly selling on the name alone now. I wonder just how much it would sell if it was actually good.
