The latest Media Create data has confirmed that PlayStation Vita has finally sailed past the one million sales mark.

Sony’s high-powered pocket brick reached the milestone in 42 weeks. By comparison, 3DS reached the same sales barrier in 13 weeks, while PlayStation Portable took just 14 weeks.

The week beginning October 1 was a slow time for PS Vita, with the handheld shifting 7,957 units, again being outsold by its predecessor and 3DS.

PS Vita was released in Japan back in December last year, before hitting the U.S. and Europe in February 2012.
