XSEED Games has announced that Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, a sequel to the first Corpse Party, will come to North American PSPs sometime this winter. A European release is set for "sometime shortly thereafter."
Corpse Party: Book of Shadows contains eight chapters. Since each chapter will tell its own self-contained short story, the storytelling follows a non-linear structure as some stories fill in gaps in the previous game, adds characters’ back-stories, or presents alternative takes on events in the first game.
The game’s final chapter named "Blood Drive" will serve as the "true sequel" story that focuses on "two of the first game’s survivors as they venture somewhere even deadlier than Heavenly Host Elementary School in order to dig up some answers."
The whole game plays like a point-and-click adventure game from a first-person perspective. Expect more dialogue- and narrative-driven cutscenes in this sequel, however the ability to save at absolutely any time has been added. The first Corpse Party was successful at creating horror and tension through its storytelling, audio, and atmosphere.
If you missed out on the first Corpse Party, the North American PSN Store will have it for $9.99 USD, 50 percent off its original price, starting tomorrow through November 6.
