Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has suggested that Darksiders II is struggling to break even for publisher THQ.

The hack-‘n-slash sequel was released in August 2012 and initially appeared to be doing well, with 247,000 units sold within its first fortnight on sale, according to NPD figures.

However, two months on, and Pachter claims the game is “struggling to approach its 2 million units breakeven threshold.”

The analyst further added that Darksiders II likely topped one million sales by the end of August, though since then has struggled to gain momentum.

Speaking of THQ’s plans to streamline its business operations with fewer high-quality titles, Pachter offered: “Darksiders 2’s performance, and a history of game delays and cancellations leave us sceptical that THQ can successfully execute its turnaround strategy.”
