Welcome to the Lasombra Files, PSU’s weekly hit program. Follow the story of Lasombra and V as they try to stay alive in Shadow City, unraveling its secrets, while at the same time shining the spotlight on trophy hunters around the world and in our community.

The glaring sun shines down into our sleep deprived eyes as we exit the plane in Santiago, Chile. “Hola, uh...hi, where is the Santiago capital building?” The limo drivers look at us as if we were dropped out of the plane on our heads, not holding back smiles that cracked their tanned faces. “Peru, seriously? We’re in Lima, Peru? The boss is really going to kill us this time. We flew to the wrong country.” One of the drivers hands me a note, eliciting only a face palm as V, for once in her existence, pays attention to my monologues. “The boss hates us. He sent us to the wrong country on purpose. That does not even make any sense.” I crumple the paper and throw it away, as if I were some 80s cartoon caricature. No sooner did we leave a jail, did we get a ticket for littering in Episode 6: Chile Cook-Off. “At least whoever was trying to shoot at us back in the city won’t find us here.” CLICK! “I hope that was the sound of your high-heels, V.”

Name: Jeankarlo
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Occupation: I’m a systems engineer but I have my own business. (Let us say I kill multiple cows for meat produce XD)
Country: Peru

Lasombra: When did you start gaming?

Jeankarlo: My first console was an Atari, when I was like 5 years old, but my brother was the one that really played it a lot since I wasn’t too good at that age

Lasombra: How did you choose your PSN name?

Jeankarlo: I’m not very creative so my PSN name is my real name, I know it is lame.

Lasombra: What motivated you to become a trophy hunter? What was your initial spark?

Jeankarlo: I always like to unlock everything in my games, since my first serious console was a SNES. Also I always like to have perfect stats, for example in the GTA series if I get busted or died I reloaded an early game save until I passed it perfectly.

Lasombra: Are you a trophy hunter, platinum hunter, or a specific hunter? (Example: All GoW game hunter)

Jeankarlo: I think I’m a platinum hunter. I like to unlock the platinum in all my games, plus getting 100% in my PSN games (since we don’t have platinums for those), but I really don’t care about DLC. If I have a chance to do it then I go for it.

Lasombra: How many hours do you dedicate to trophy hunting?

Jeankarlo: I play a lot usually after work and if I don’t go out, usually 5 hours a day.

Lasombra: What motivates you to go for that next trophy? How do you stay motivated after a long gaming session, particularly with grinding trophies?

Jeankarlo: What motivates me to the next trophy is the platinum, and after the platinum is the next game etc, etc, etc. After a long grinding game, what I do is play 2 or 3 quick games, as the "ding" sound motivates me.

Lasombra: Have you ever gone through any burnout from your sessions?

Jeankarlo: A couple of times, one was the SF4 trials, specifically those Jump into Ultra cancels, but I just kept trying till I finished them. The other was NGS2, since nobody beat UN1 and UN2, I was kind of worried, and when some players finally beat it, it was so hard but I got a couple of good partners that helped me finish that game.

Lasombra: What is your proudest platinum? Why? Was it your hardest?

Jeankarlo: Warhawk is my proudest platinum, and the reason that I joined a trophy hunting site. I found a very good organized boosting group for this. Some just give up; others like me get their platinum. With the mods around I just boost kills. The points (which is the long part) I just got it by playing ... (continued on next page)
