Sony Computer Entertainment America has revealed post-Black Friday sales figures for the retail period of November 18 through November 24.
PlayStation 3 struck gold, with Sony reporting a 15% year-over-year increase on Black Friday bundle sales. This factored in to a 9% year-over-year increase of hardware, software, and accessory sales. Sony reports that its Ultimate PlayStation Value Bundle, which included the Uncharted Dual Pack and inFAMOUS Collection alongside a 250GB Super Slim model, quickly sold out at retailers nationwide.
PlayStation Vita enjoyed similar, if less astounding, success. 160,000 PS Vita units were sold during the retail period, while the Assassin's Creed III: Liberation Bundle, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified Bundle, and LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes Bundle all sold out by shopping's end. To add to the excitement, Amazon.com's Lightning Deal for the Assassin's Creed III: Liberation Bundle sold out in less than five hours.
While there are no 2011 sales figures to draw comparisons with, PlayStation Vita seems to have enjoyed a much-needed bout of retail success in the early holiday season. The increased sales push comes alongside a deluge of quality titles, including Persona 4 Golden, Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, and PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.
