Resident Evil 6 sales fall short of expectations

Resident Evil 6 is unlikely to meet sales expectations, Capcom has said.

The dramatic-horror sequel was released on October 2, 2012, and despite initial sales proving positive, things quickly tapered off.

RE6 was originally forecast to ship seven million units during the current financial year, before Capcom slashed the figure to six million last month. The Japanese publishers has further lowered its forecast for the game, though no figure was given.

“Sales of the major new title Resident Evil 6 were initially strong but subsequently weakened,” Capcom commented. “As a result, sales for this title are certain to fall short of the plan.”

Consequently, Capcom said today that it has lowered its sales and earnings forecast for the FY ending March 31, 2013. Sales were lowered by 11 per cent to 93.5 billion yen while net profit forecast was cut by 33.7 per cent to 6.5 billion yen.

To make matters worse, key 3DS title Monster Hunter 4 has suffered a delay. The game was originally pencilled in for release next March, but has now been pushed back to summer 2013.

Im messing around with RE5 right now, and its is a joke of its own. Only reason I have it is because I got it free, being a Plus member. If Capcom doesn't get their head out of their a s s, there won't be any future RE titles to carry on the series. I played the RE6 demo, and I wasn't too impressed. =(  So im not surprised Capcom is not meeting their sales goals.

A terrible game. Bad game play, bad story, and just make the game so stupid. No more for me Resident or Call Of Duty.

@ agreed ! Well i've said it before and i'll say it again GO TO ORIGINAL ROOTS OR  F A I L !!!!  Capcom you destroyed one of the most amazing games ever by going '' action oriented '' .... stupid people why not make another action game change its name and make it only action, and leave original RE alone . Those Stupid RE movies made you go action oriented stupid alise that never existed in re, capcom you are such a FAIL !!!

Yet another third person shooter that plays clunky!  Imagine that.  I think it's the PS3 that can't produce fluid TPS gameplay.  SOCOM, same thing.

@6- The PS3 can play them fine, its the developers that can not produce. If you have your own personal problem with the PS3, thats your deal, but don't blaim the frikin machine. I have both consoles, and the 360 has issues of its own on certain games too. Its funny you mention Socom, that game got horrible ratings, and didn't sell worth the crap, because Zipper didn't know what they were doing with it from the start...........again, it was the developers. =)

@6 yes, because the uncharted series are HORRIBLE third person gameplay titles.

The Last of Us will be horrible too because the PS3 cant produce fluid TPS gameplay.

Socom sucked because they stopped making it like SOCOM and kept trying to make it like other popular titles instead

CAPCOM's epic fail begun with current generation. They turned from the best gaming publishers to the most money-grabbing one. Garbage like RES6 suffer the fate they deserve while RES5 was barely good. I also wonder, have some companies and gamers ever seen God Of War 3? Or Killzone 2-3...? Or any Uncharted game... ? Closing your eyes to the truth doesn't change it.

ps3 can handle excellent third personne games, capcom chosed to make RE an action franchise to touch a larger public and made RE multi-platform to win more money, guess thier plans aren't working as planned, lol!
