Activision has exhumed a decomposing Walking Dead: Survival Instinct release date, confirming the zombie shooter will launch on March 29, 2013.

Based on the hit AMC TV show The Walking Dead – itself based on the acclaimed monthly comic series – Survival Instinct stars Daryl and Merle Dixon in a prequel that sees the siblings battling zombies on their way to Atlanta.

The game itself is a first-person shooter, with players controlling Daryl through the Georgian countryside. Much like in the show, Dixon can take down walkers directly with weapons or avoid them via a more stealthy approach.

Activision also confirmed that the game will appear on Wii U with a backpack-style interface similar to ZombieU.
