Sony will release the PlayStation 4 in November 2013, PSU.com has learned.
That’s according to a reliable industry source speaking to us earlier today, who let slip on the planned November launch window assuming we were already aware of it.
Rumors have been circulating on the web today that Sony plans on unveiling its next-generation home console at the PlayStation Meeting event on February 20. Furthermore, earlier reports also suggested the console will launch this year.
Needless to say, while all signs point to a November release, this should still be treated as a rumor until we get official confirmation from Sony.
Stay tuned for more information on PS4 here at PSU.com as we get it.

I've purchased the PSOne, PS2 and PS3 on the release dates. I think I've learned my lesson and will force myself to wait a year while the options increase, HDD space increases, price decreases about 20-30%, and bugs are worked out. I'm definitely looking forward to this though!

If it'll be released this year then an announcement on the 20th would make sense, with hands-on demos at E3.

@2 Had my PS2 since '02. Still works. My PS(PSOne isn't the original PlayStation BTW) still works... What kind of bugs did you get with your consoles?.. Also, you obviously get more play time if you get something like this sooner. DUH. If saving money is more important, then sure you can wait. Suit yourself.
@6 It isn't really too soon. Not like there can be no more games for the PS3 after PS4 launches. Were you not alive during the transition from PS2 to PS3?..
@8 Could you remove your nasty trolling self? Unless you're joking... ;)
Looking forward to seeing what the system will be able to do. Guys like Naughty Dog should be able to make some amazing things! :) -

@ Digilator The problem is the switch from PS2 to PS3 was at a point where the PS2 was REALLY showing it's age and there was not much left to do expansion-wise. Games were really hitting the peak of what the hardware was capable of, this generation is still capable of doing more and few developers are even trying to push the hardware they just keep claiming every year "oh we think we've squeezed all the performance possible out of this" and every year they're proven wrong by developers that actually make an effort, The people making the most noise about jumping to a new gen are the developers that are the most rigid and incapable of adapting. This gen is still capable of generating amazing things and the fact there are so many articles suggesting that games like The Last of Us, GTA5 and other potential triple A titles may suffer in sales because of a rush to the next gen is very telling. If the new system will have difficulty with backwards compatibility then that means either developers will hold off on creating content for the new systems resulting in the same pain that the PS3 suffered in the beginning or we'll be forced into a consumer base split that can create more complications in compatibility and service than overall improvements.

@ Alpha2
Sure, lots more is possible on a much more powerful system like the PS3. The Last Of Us sure looks awesome! If developers had to, they still could be making different PS2 games. If GTA is possible, lots of things are. Still, a more powerful system brings fresh life to older franchises. Having less blurry games(native/1080p=sharper image) and better frame-rates will also be better for the eyes.

Well, I still have plenty of PS3 games to play before going next gen so I don't really care if the new playstation comes out this year or next, but for Sony having a new console launch just before christmas and before the next xbox would be plenty good for them. So the sooner the better I guess, can't wait to see what the next playstation will look like and capable to do.
