Journey dev going multiplatform with next project

The founder of Thatgamecompany has confirmed that his studio’s next title will make the transition into multiplatform territory.
Speaking during a chinwag with Polygon at DICE, Jenova Chen noted that to achieve wide-reaching financial success, the studio must venture beyond the constraints of Sony-owned consoles.
Furthermore, Chen observed that at one point during its development, PlayStation 3-exclusive Journey actually bankrupted the developer.
"I think to have a financial success, that is going to change everyone, it has to be much bigger than a game on the PlayStation platform," said Chen.
Journey, of course, achieved critical and commercial success upon its release in early 2012. The artsy title became the most downloaded title on PlayStation Network in March, achieving the same feat again for December last year.
“I run into a lot of lost and frustrated students who study games to work on great art, but then find there is no place for them," he added. "I feel responsible for them because I showed them that is possible, but there is no place for them."
"My resolution is to create a big financial success," he added.
Details on Chen’s next project are thin on the ground, though Chen noted that “Journey was focused on connection,” and “I think we are trying to do one level above that with this game.” However, he added “It’s very likely that’s impossible.”

I hope they find success with their multiplatform title, their games aren't exactly up my alley, but I respect their efforts to extend the medium beyond the traditional norms. Just hope they can keep afloat through these hard times, would be a loss to the entire industry if we lost the talent of thatgamecompany.

Realistically, this is a very smart move. PlayStation website or not, we are ALL gamers, so if TGC wants to put games on the next Xbox as well, I am all for it. Their games are some of the best I have ever played, and it would be nice for Xbox gamers to get the chance to experience such art as well. I might be a diehard Sony gamer, but I have respect for all systems.
