Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance review round-up

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance has been a long time coming, having first been unwrapped back at E3 2009. Originally conceived as a prequel to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots at Kojima Productions, the game eventually shifted into Platinum Games’ lap, taking place four years after Snake’s epic swansong.

Fans have been dubious as to whether or not the game would measure up, given that it pretty much eschews much of Metal Gear’s stealth-based trappings. Similarly, it’s also the first game where Raiden is the main protagonist (MGS2, of course, at least featured Solid Snake for a small portion of events), who isn’t exactly a fan-favourite.

Nonetheless, Platinum’s polished pedigree has seemingly shined through, with Rising obtaining some positive scores. Sure, a few have been slightly mixed, but overall, it seems Raiden’s hack-‘n-slash actioner is a sure-fire winner.
