Earlier this evening, PlayStation 4's Lead System Architect Mark Cerny pulled back the curtain on a new character platformer for PS4 called Knack. Knack is whimsical in the truest sense, casting you as the eponymous creature in a brilliant cartoon world of vivid colors and magical powers.

A host of new game details have been divulged on the official EU PlayStation Blog. Knack, the title character, is a creature forged from ancient relics combined to form a consciousness. A scientist called the Doctor is behind it all; unknowing or otherwise, his actions give Knack mystical powers. For example, Knack can incorporate relics that he finds to gain new powers--fire, ice, metal, and the like--and transform his body.

Cerny describes the game as "a little bit like Crash Bandicoot, and a little bit like Katamari Damacy . . . [with] a touch of God of War in there."

Story details are still scarce, but we know that "mankind is threatened by a resurgent goblin army and Knack steps forward to protect them - until it becomes clear that an even greater danger is posed by elements of the human community."
