The creator behind the Metal Gear franchise has fuelled hope of a spin-off title starring The Boss.
Speaking with VG247, Hideo Kojima revealed that he’d like work on a new game featuring Naked Snake’s (aka Big Boss) mentor.
“I may make more spin-offs, possibly with The Boss, which is something I personally want to do. But it’s not something I will make a habit of.”
Kojima-san previously touched on a Metal Gear prequel featuring The Boss and the Cobra Unit, set during the Normandy landings of World War II.
Kojima Productions is currently working on the next chapter in the Metal Gear Solid franchise, Ground Zeroes, which will feature Big Boss as the main protagonist.

Oh my god, yes! This makes me so, so happy. I said that this needed to happen as soon as I finished playing MGS 3.

Kojima also says he wants to be dissociated with Metal Gear. If he pursues this project, this makes 3 Metal Gear tltles that have yet to be released (and it seems likely that he would direct all of them). I love the MGS games, though, so I would welcome a MGS featuring The Boss with open arms.

I think the question is does he want to head the project? Because he can have MGS universe games released every year but he doesnt really need to do anything more than set the wheels in motion and looking in every now and again to make sure it's going the way he wants it to, that much is evidenced by just how many MGS games he's had in production up to this point. He may want to step back from MGS to make other games but if the games and stories he wants to make can be done within the MGS universe he really doesnt have to do that yet.
