On the evening of Sony's PlayStation 4 reveal at the PlayStation Meeting, our very own forums exploded with activity. Gamers of every type and all walks of life descended on the PSU community to sound off on PS4 and join the raging Internet party. It was a brilliant time; you should've been here!
Three days later, the smoke has (somewhat) settled and PSU forum members are giving us their opinions of Sony's show and PS4. Was this Sony's best conference yet? Is PlayStation 4 everything we hoped and dreamed it would be? Let's hear from the best and biggest PlayStation community on the web:
DeviousOne: "What the PS4 is bringing to the table is impressive hardware wise however the most important thing it has brought is attention and excitement to the Playstation fan. As a long time PS fan I felt 18 watching the event live. I was so hype and enjoyed what I saw so far. PS3 has been SOLID no doubt and is the best gaming value in the market today. I can't help but feel PS4 is gonna be HUGE for sony, for ps fans and PSU! I'm so amped for a lot of things at E3 but Sony just made e3 that much better for me personally. Bring on the PS4! I'm ready"
ps3freak18: "The PS4 is bringing it! The event brought so much great news. Streaming games, Suspend/Resume, and Simultaneous play while downloading were some of the best features to me. Not to mention the Dual Shock 4 is the sexiest of the family! Sony went full bore in improving some of their downfalls from last generation. A great deal of this credit goes to the acquisition of Gaikai to bring about all these amazing features. Now the games...Simply put, wow! Killzone Shadow Fall took the show by storm! The visuals were amazing and for it to be so early this looks like it is going to be a whirl of a generation for the PS4! Bring it on Sony!"
SHAZZMAZZ: "I think the PS4 is going to so good the xbox will lose again. And i cant wait to get the PS4."
Sir_Scud: "I think Sony was smart in not showing too much, even though I wish they did. They were able to reveal enough to get you talking, but not enough to know they haven't shown all the cards in their hand. The highlights for me were the play while downloading a game, and the Killzone reveal. The sense of scope and more to come from Killzone is going to be amazing!"
claud3: "It was an all round epic event and a truly amazing testament to what this PSU FORUM and FRONT page can achieve and what we love about this place... They achieved what we expect and poured PIXIE DUST of magic over us for more enjoyment to come"
(Cheers, claud3!)
sosovoo: "Watchdog looks awesome. Drive club looks good but it comes down to what tracks are available in game
If they just have generic tracks then I think its gunnaa blow IMO. Considering they have RL manufactures I'm hoping for the best. I do like the Mobil app challenge feature. That's pretty sick. SE almost killed the hype momentum. I'm sure someone at Sony is livid. Either way with so many beautiful games already for ps4 I see a very bright recovery for Sony and the PlayStation brand."
YoungMullah88: "While the show was awesome and Sony came out swinging, i mean spectating a friend and jumping in to take over for them are the two features that impressed me the most...but I'm still cautious when it comes to Sony promising way too much and under delivering. Any body remember Phil Harrison's GDC presentation back in 06? Half of those features never made it to the ps3! Here's hoping everything we saw on the 20th will be there from day one!"
PSU staff will have its own thoughts to share with detailed opinion pieces and editorials in the days and weeks to come. In the meantime, make your voice heard in the comments. Did the PS4 reveal blow your mind? Are there ways that Sony could have done better? Let us know, and check out our massive collection of every PS4 story, detail, and video.

There's always something to complain about. But if you truly understand how everything is gonna get a lot easier with the features they are offering. Like Gaikai support on the playstation network along with the ability to share videos, pictures or gameplay with friends or families it'll be a success. But time will only tell. Either way i'm looking foward for the PS4.

@1 Pinkerbelle Merrick, those sites are complaining because they didn't show what those sites wanted to see, there is a big difference. Most of the developers are excited for the PS4, the only ones that are not seem to be people that have some type of "agenda" towards Sony and want to see them fail.

To me, the press conference was perfectly fine. A couple of things I didn't care for but I didn't really have any gripes with the press conference. Sure they didn't show off a ton of things, but E3 is just around the corner and they need to save something for that. Also, they probably don't want to reveal too much until Microsoft announces the next XBOX, so that they know what they are up against. You don't want to brag about something your system can do, only to have the rival show that their system does the same thing better.

@1 Ohhh please excuse us as we change our opinions to match the rest of the internet! LOL PSU doesn't conform to blend with the norm pal :D. The only thing ppl are butthurt about is not seeing the PS4's box. If the game developers liked what they saw, and I liked what I saw, and the PSU community liked what it saw...seems like a wrap. :) E3 is 4 months away...Sony doesn't need to blow its load all in one shot.

At 1, what about the conference was "off" ?. They showed their hand a little and will save the rest for E3. As far as what was shown, the only thing kinda rubbing anyone the wrong way (Myself included) would be the lack of PS3 compatibility and inability to use the DS3 controller. Aside from that, for everyone to actually believe we're going to get all this stuff for free, that's kind of setting yourself up for dissapointment. SONY businesswise is bleeding cash and need to right the ship unless they want to go down. This system will play a huge role in helping to do that. As far as people talking about hardcore this and that, I understand, but guess what? Not every potential or existing customer is "Hardcore". The top brass recognizes this and will act accordingly. The future of a company can't ride on a small percentage that doesn't want things to get too "Action oriented" and "Easy" for "Noobs" etc, etc. They will have to try their best to accomodate every angle for every sale they can get. And anyone who believes otherwise is wrong. I feel that they're on the right track and a year and half from now, I really think people will come to appreciate what they were doing. One of the biggest things they did right in my opinion is making the system easy to develop for. That right there will dump all of the "PS3 ports suck" stuff. This will be interesting for sure. We'll have to wait and see. The other thing that's kind of iffy, is this whole Gaikai thing. They had best have this stuff up and running and not just sell everyone on the concept, and then charge us a fee to access it, and then after they have our cash, we find out we have access to 10 PS2 titles and 5 PS3 titles to start with. If this is the case they should have waited and launched it when this stuff is all ready for prime time. That, would be my one biggest peeve, Just my thoughts guys!

The conference was very good and they showed that many games developers are on-board to develop for the console......a major confidence boost for gamers. They have proven to listen to criticisms and ideas....hense the new design and direction.
But when all is said & done it was a conference to hype & market the console. If you feel the hype, then they have done their jobs. If you can see through the hype, then you are obviously a mature gamer that has been here before.
What matters at the end of the day are the games........will SONY also prove to listen to the people and stop interfering with favored franchises? Destroying them and claiming " to broaden the audience"? This isn;t only a SONY problem...this is happening on XboX & PC also.....many franchises are going down the pan in a bid to " Broaden the audience", which only goes to alienate the large followings games once had.
The hardware is there, the infrastructure is there......now let the games be developed as they should be..

The only thing really wrong with the press conference was what they DIDN'T show, and I'm not talking about a physical system, I mean they didn't tell us how much all this technical wonderment was going to cost. While I'm positive we're not going to see it retail for 600 bucks like the PS3 and games sounds like they'll stick to current pricing, I think what they don't hit us with at the register they WILL hit us later on in the form of locking many of these "must have features" behind a paywall. I'd hate to guess at what will be PSpluss only features but I'm pretty sure most of them will involve gaikai and things like background downloading if the current generation version of PS plus is any indication.

Yeah I know that's why I said I was positive it wouldn't be that high. In fact most of the rumors put it in the 400-500 dollar range, even if it lands in that area it can still do well but closer to 400 would be a much better position. That still doesnt mean they wont make you pay if you want all the features they're showing, If so that could ammount to an extra cost per year even more so than the PS3's launch price in the long run, that's what I'm more worried about.

I've never seen a more delusional group of fanboys.
The Conference was a joke, anyone with half a braincell can see beyond all the corporate buzzwords and doublespeak.
They're lying about the pricepoint. They're going to overcharge like a mofo because of people Just Like You.
The preorder prices are already over $1000.
You guys will gladly pay it and make up excuses on your fanboy blog site about how Sony is wonderful and actually saving you money by charging so much.
SMH.
Yeah, go ahead an ban me. That chick on Reddit posted how you banned her for her negative post.

LOL @ 11 The only thing you said that is true is that there was alot of corporate buzzwords at the conference. It's almost as if they were trying to advertise and promote a new product!
Everythingelse you said was errornous, and I presume that you are probably a fanboy yourself, but not for Sony's consoles. So hostile, so defensive...you're as easy to read as a childrens book. :)

@11. Those are what the industry calls "Placeholder prices". Much the same as placeholder release dates for games. Not being a ridiculous fanboy, I can honestly tell you that those prices will definitely be seen on E-Bay after release as they always are when the demand vastly outweighs the supply (In many new products you'll find that is the case, not just game consoles BTW). Also, when the new MS system comes out, It will be the same thing. SONY already came out and told everone it wasn't going to be $600. Why would they screw themselves over and lie like that? And another thing,if you get banned, it would be because as Ghost Rhayne stated, you yourself are a fanboy of some sort and come right out of the starting gate using idiotic insults such as "The reason it will cost $1000 is because of people exactly like you" for instance. The reason these forums become havens for childish, moronic rants against other people trying to have a semblance of a rational discussion is because of people like yourself.

Shining...I didn't call you a liar...I just said what you're saying isn't true. You seem to not understand the concept of "place holder prices". If you look in amazon, PS3 games are ALWAYS €69.99 during pre-order phase...When they are released the price ALWAYS drops. Sony hasn't revealed the price so retail can only put a place holder price on. It even says on the links you sent me that the price is to be confirmed... Silly Moose, who ever it was did not get banned for "a negative comment" lol. She would have broken one of the forum rules continually. However, I would love to see said reddit post. :)
