Rumor: Final Fantasy X HD for PS3 coming in June, graphics as good as FF XIII's

The high-definition remake of the beloved Final Fantasy X for the PS3 may be coming sooner than we think. On top of that, it could be better than your average HD re-release.

Sony is currently holding their annual retailers event, Destination PlayStation, in Arizona this week. An attendee named Aibo of the website Final Fantasy Reunion has claimed screenshots of Final Fantasy X HD's PS3 version were shown and tweeted its graphics are on par with Final Fantasy XIII's. Also, the game is supposedly set to release in June, according to Aibo.

Square Enix recently showed off the PlayStation Vita version during last week's Japanese PS Vita webstream.

A June release slot is surprising, given how little of the game has been shown, but is a good choice, as the summer is a slow time for game releases. Additionally, it fills a void in Square Enix's blockbuster schedule between Tomb Raider releasing this spring and Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII in the fall.

Regardless, this news has me more excited to get my hands on Final Fantasy X HD. If Square Enix can pull off a successful HD remake that sells well, maybe a Final Fantasy VII one isn't such a pipe dream! We'll keep updating you on any further breaking news on everything Final Fantasy.

Wait, wasn't it an HD remake that looks the same on Vita as on PS3? (Like most cross-platform games for Vita/PS3) The stuff we saw of the Vita version, should be an indication of how it'll look on PS3. Though I was dreaming of a Crystal-Engine FFX remakeever since I first heard about it.

I'm gonna laugh my butt off when this sells more than all the FFXIII games combined.

The remake's graphics are as good as FF13?

    Yeah sure w/e.

What actually IS true, is that the game itself is better than ff13, and that matters more anyway.

I doubt itll be as good as 13, but I just can't wait for the port on Vita. Hopefully it will increase the sales for it.

I am super glad they are making X, hopefully they will follow suit for X-2 and XII. To be honest everyone is beating a dead horse with FFVII remakes. I am just happy to have the PS1 port to be able to be played on my PS3, PSP and Vita. Its the PS2 ones I miss the most.

And maybe its just me, but other than great visuals, but I played FF7 so much that it was not even a challenge, almost a chose to play it. I would welcome the great graphics, sounds etc but the game itself should,  at it's core, remain the same. That would kind of bore me I think.

The whole final fantasy VII remake is still gonna be a pipe dream. Square will not touch it until they are on the verge of bankruptcy. All they'll do is make VII there ace in the hole when there about to go under sadly.
