Metro: Last Light will be released in the U.S. on May 14, publisher Deep Sliver has announced.

In addition, the company confirmed that the post-apocalyptic shooter will hit European shores on May 17.

Last Light was originally pencilled in for release in March 2013; however, after THQ’s financial woes, the franchise was picked up by Deep Silver, who also publishes Dead Island.

Said Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, CEO of Koch Media: "The new release date is the ideal way to strike the balance between bringing the best out of Metro: Last Light and not keep the fans waiting longer than necessary.

"We won't leave that time unexploited and will work closely together with 4A Games to make the game even better. It will receive all the attention it deserves."

"We would like to thank all of the Metro fans for their patience. And we can assure them that we have a lot more coming their way with the franchise,” added Menno van der Bil, international commercial director at Deep Silver.

Metro: Last Light will be released for PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360.
